Automotive
AITAD has been working with German OEMs for years. Our embedded AI solutions not only contribute to engine function testing, but also help save lives in a variety of ways. This is done both by monitoring and predictive maintenance of wear parts in the powertrain and by groundbreaking developments in driver monitoring.
Innovative functions with embedded AI:
Verifying engine function before installation to save time and costs. AI detects malfunctions based on ultrasonic noise. Engines that are still defective after delivery can be tracked and used to retrain the AI. This means that the AI system can replace even the most experienced human test (listening) operator.
Embedded AI sees more: in addition to fatigue and the driver’s emotions, intelligent near-infrared cameras can also detect impending strokes or heart attacks – so help can be summoned quickly.
With intelligent ultrasonic sensors, we monitor joints and shafts, detect anomalies at an early stage or – depending on the training possibilities of the AI – can make specific predictions about the health of the drive train. And thus save lives.
In a vehicle fleet, embedded AI sensors can collect data on road conditions. This enables better planning of road repairs and the collection of usage data.

With embedded AI, predictive maintenance becomes a reality: machines and components report their condition at an early stage, enabling more flexible maintenance planning and avoiding breakdowns. This improves performance, reduces downtime, lowers costs and extends service life.
Since embedded AI processes raw data directly at the sensor, it offers deeper insights than edge or cloud AI and makes the invisible visible.
Examples include precise measurement of volume and mass flow, analysis of vibrations for early fault detection, and continuous battery health monitoring.

Embedded AI systems can detect missing parts in real time or quickly sort objects by shape, color, acoustic or spectrographic characteristics, as well as check parts, components, cut edges, welds, surfaces and much more for defects.

Medical technology
In medical technology, AITAD offers innovative approaches to improve existing solutions and promote new innovations. Embedded AI optimizes and relieves the burden here, particularly through user interaction and advanced predictive maintenance solutions.
Innovative functions with embedded AI:
The surgical light automatically adjusts to the respective surgical situation, both in terms of brightness and color temperature. This ensures that the operating physician always has the best view of the patient and the surgical area.
In many operations, a non-sterile assistant manually adjusts the surgical equipment according to the doctor’s instructions. With embedded AI, devices can be controlled contact-free and in a sterile manner by voice, e.g. a high-frequency surgical scalpel.
Embedded AI monitors the functionality of medical devices and provides early warning of possible failures. In real time, it also prevents malfunctions in extreme situations.
With the help of wearables, such as patient wristbands, important vital data can be recorded automatically and over the long term. This facilitates decisions in the emergency room and provides the family doctor with important information about the patient’s general condition.
Prostheses can adapt to the wearer’s gait with embedded AI and provide important information for improving posture.

White goods, household appliances, plumbing
Embedded AI brings a variety of new features and improvements to home appliances. Our solutions are particularly advantageous due to low unit costs and autonomous functionality. They can be used in almost all devices and also work without continuous updates or a network connection.
Innovative functions with embedded AI:
“Smelling stoves” detect cooking errors and prevent food from burning or milk from boiling over. They regulate the temperature or issue warning signals – for safe and convenient cooking.
Just a single sensor can detect at an early stage whether the washing machine pump is malfunctioning, an engine is about to break down, or a hose is threatening to tear, and report problems before they arise.
The oven automatically selects the right program based on what is put into it. So it always works, no matter what you want to bake.
Of course, embedded AI also ensures greater safety: a child’s hand about to touch a hot stove? – It’s recognized. The sometimes a little confused grandmother who wants to operate the stove at three in the morning: recognized, operation made more difficult and automatic shutdown activated. So no more accidents can happen.
The shower [1] recognizes the members of your family by means of an infrared sensor and sets their favorite shower program. In public baths, it automatically stops the water or performs the prescribed hygiene flushing as soon as there are no more people present. In the nursing home, it triggers an alarm and calls for help in the event of a fall.
