Opinions on artificial intelligence (AI) in the medical and pharmaceutical industries fluctuate between enthusiasm and skepticism, particularly with regard to the still hard-to-imagine effects of the megatrend. While some welcome technological progress, others fear being replaced by machines.
As is so often the case, however, the root of these fears is a lack of knowledge about the “new” technology. Although the integration of AI into our everyday lives has long been a reality, the technology has not yet progressed to the point where it can completely replace human workers. It is questionable whether it will ever get that far, as history shows that the introduction of new technologies has led to the loss – but always also the creation – of new jobs. However, there is no question that artificial intelligence will revolutionize many industries from the ground up, including the medical and pharmaceutical industries.
