AI in medical technology
Challenges and opportunities for the healthcare sector

Offenburg, April 4, 2024
Embedded AI offers a wide range of benefits for the healthcare sector. It supports doctors and nurses in making informed decisions by providing real-time information and analytics and increases efficiency in day-to-day work by automating previously manual tasks. This can significantly reduce overall healthcare costs while reducing the risk of infection and medical errors, increasing patient safety through continuity and improving the quality of care.
Embedded AI also gets the data protection problem under control: the local processing of sensor data eliminates the need to transmit it; instead, only the required information is transmitted. This can be pseudonymized, as required by the Health Data Usage Act (GDNG). This means that the data can be used to protect the privacy of individual patients, but can also be made available in aggregated form for research purposes.
